WHO: World Health Organization
WHO stands for World Health Organization. WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that acts as a coordinating authority on international public health.
It was established on 7 April 1948, and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. WHO has more than 7000 people working for the organization in 150 country offices, in six regional offices. The WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group.

WHO support member countries as they coordinate the efforts of governments and partners – including bi- and multilaterals, funds and foundations, civil society organizations and the private sector. Working together,with the member countries, attain health objectives by supporting national health policies and strategies
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system. The main areas of work of World Health Organization are health systems; health through the life-course; noncommunicable and communicable diseases; preparedness, surveillance and response; and corporate services.
