UPS: Uninterruptible Power Supply
UPS stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply. It is an electrical device that supplies emergency power to other devices for a fixed amount of time without stopping even when there are problems occurring with utility power and other power sources.
A UPS is typically used to protect hardware such as computers, data centers, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment where an unexpected power disruption could cause injuries, fatalities, serious business disruption or data loss.
There are three types of UPS:
Online UPS : Online UPS supplies uninterrupted power from its own inverter.
Offline or Stand-by power system: When power is cut off it switches to battery in few milliseconds. During this time, computer is not receiving any power. This supply is mostly used in a computer or office supply store
Electronic Generators:It is a device that converts motive power (mechanical energy) into electrical power for use in an external circuit.
