(1) TT: Travelling Ticket Examiner
TT stands for Travelling Ticket Examiner. TT examiner is an employee in Indian railway who examines passenger tickets during the journey in trains.
The cadre of Travelling Ticket Examiner falls under the control of Indian Railway Traffic service (IRTS) cadre of officers in Indian Railways.
The TTE is usually dressed in black uniform (black pant and blazer) with his name and designation on a badge over it. Typically a Travelling Ticket Examiner is in charge of about 5-6 coaches for the entire journey in case of small distances and for long distances, a new TTE takes over at different stations.
The responsibilities of TT examiner includes verifying the tickets of all the passengers present in the coach, to mark whether a passenger is available in the train or not, to lock the coaches from inside during night, to give first aid to a passenger in case of medical emergency, allocation of seats to passengers who are in waiting list, make fine slip to passengers who don’t have a ticket.
(2) TT: Tetanus Toxoid
TT stands for Tetanus Toxoid. Tetanus Toxoid is used to prevent tetanus (also known as lockjaw). Tetanus is a serious illness that causes convulsions (seizures) and severe muscle spasms that can be strong enough to cause bone fractures of the spine. Tetanus causes death in 30 to 40 percent of cases.
Tetanus toxoid vaccination is recommended for all pregnant women, depending on previous tetanus vaccination exposure, to prevent neonatal mortality fromtetanus.
The tetanus toxoid vaccine was developed in 1924, and came into common use for soldiers in World War II. Its use resulted in a 95% decrease in the rate of tetanus.
