SHO: Station House Officer
SHO stands for Station House Officer. SHO is an officer in charge of the police station.
He supervises the functioning of police station and is responsible for maintaining the law and order in his area.
SHO is authorized to receive complaints and to register criminal cases. The rank insignia for an SHO is three stars and a red and blue striped ribbon at the outer edge of the shoulder straps. His ranking is above a Sub-Inspector (SI) and below a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Note: Station House is a synonym for Police Station
Duties of SHO
