RTO: Regional Transport Office

RTO stands for Regional Transport Office. which is, in essence, a bureau of the central Government that is responsible for the registration of vehicles. An RTO is located in every state and issues driving licenses and vehicle registration cards.

Today, the RTO offices provide digitized cards in most states. This card is the size of a PAN card and has the photo of the holder, along with details of the vehicle.
