HTTP: Hyper Text Transfer protocol
HTTP stands for HTTP: Hyper Text Transfer protocol. Hypertext Transfer Protocol is an application layer protocol that contains a set of instructions used for transferring distributed information system files, multimedia data communication on the World Wide Web.
It is invented by Tim Berner in 1989.
It provides a standard for web browsers that facilitates users to exchange information between a web browser and web server to establish communication over internet . HTTP is used by most of the websites to access any file or page.
How HTTP works
When a user tries to access a particular page or file and enters a URL in his Internet browser, the browser then generates an HTTP server and sends it to the URL-specified Internet Protocol Address known as IP Address.
The protocol collects data from the server and returns the desired web browser to the customer. A user needs to put HTTP in front of their page address.
What is HTTPS
Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). It is used for secure communication over a computer network, and is widely used on the Internet.
In HTTPS, the communication protocol is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) or, formerly, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
