ECC: Excise Control Code

ECC stands for Excise Control Code. Excise Control Code number is a link PAN based 15 digit alpha numeric registration number given to all the Central Excise Assesses under Central Excise Act.

The 15 digits in the ECC number indicate:

Digits 1 to 10 – PAN of the assesse;
Digits 11 and 12 – Excise manufacturer or dealer (EM or ED)
Digits 13, 14 & 15 – Unique System generated serial number
