AMUL: Anand Milk Union Limited
AMUL stands for Anand Milk Union Limited. Amul, is an Indian dairy cooperative society, based at Anand in the Indian state of Gujarat. Amul is the largest producer of milk product and milk in India.
The company was founded by Mr Tribhuvandas Patel in 1946 under the guidance of then Dy PM Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Amul is a cooperative brand managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 36 lakh (3.6 million) milk producers in Gujarat. Amul spurred India’s White Revolution, which made the country the world’s largest producer of milk and milk products.
Amul produces a wide range of milk products like flavored milk, cheese, Butter, Ghee, Dahi, Milk powder, Chocolate, Shrikhand, Ice cream and many other types of dairy products.
