AM: Anti Meridiem
PM: Post Meridiem
AM & PM are both Latin term, used to indicate a 12-hour clock system Before Noon and After Noon respectively.
AM stands for Anti Meridiem describes the “Midnight to Noon” and PM stands for Post Meridiem describes the “Noon till Midnight”.
Understanding with Example
When someone says it’s 8 AM, it means that the me is 8 O’ Clock in the morning. So, from 12 at night to 12 in the noon (exactly at 11:59 AM), it represents the day clock.
Similarly, when someone says it is 8 PM, it means that the me is 8 O’ Clock in the evening. Hence, from 12 in the noon to 12 at midnight (precisely,11:59 PM), it is the night clock.
AM: It represents time from midnight to noon. (12:00 AM to 11:59 AM). For example: If you say that you have to go to school at 11 AM, it means 11 O’clock in the morning.
PM: It represents time from noon to just before midnight. (12 Pm to 11:59 PM). For example: If you say that you have to take dinner at 9 PM, it means 9 O’clock in the night.
