International Yoga Day

YOGA – Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which means to unite or to yoke or to join or to attach, the term Yoga was coined during the Vedic period. Yoga was initially practiced for spiritual development to make the inner self aware of its nature and higher consciousness. This has evolved over the years and the modern day yoga involves a wide range of techniques, postures and various kinds of medication which helps in stabilising a person’s physical, mental and spiritual well being.

The United Nations Organisation, by its resolution 69/131 dated 11th December 2014 proclaimed 21st June as the International Yoga Day , wing to its universal acceptance as one of the best practices to adopt for a healthier , balanced and fitter life.
